When you start looking at home brewing kits you’ll quickly find that there is a lot to choose from. To help you sort through the choices, we have tried multiple beer starter kits over the last year and have listed our favorite ones below.
Let’s not delay any longer and look at our top 3 beer making equipment kits…
#3 – Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brewing Craft Beer Making Kit
Let’s start by saying this Mr. Beer brewing kit was one we really like. It comes with a Czech and Mexican pilsner kits that brewed a nice crisp and clean beer that was a hit with all of our guests. The kit comes with:
- a 2 gallon beer fermenter
- 11 re-usable PET plastic bottles (740ml)
- 2 malt re-fills
- plastic caps and labels for your bottles
- brewing instructions and DVD
Making a batch of beer couldn’t be easier with its simple 4 step process. Everything in the kit is re-usable and made of premium plastic that doesn’t leave any after taste. You can make 2 batches of beer or 4 gallons in total.
It took us no time to make one batch and the product was outstanding. If you like pilsner, this kit is a tough one to beat. The only negative that I found with this kit is that it only makes 2 gallons. If you want to make larger batches you may want to consider the Coopers kit below.
#2 – Coopers DIY Home Brewing 6 Gallon Craft Beer Making Kit
This is another outstanding home brewing kit. It comes with the Coopers Lager, which is an Australian brand that produces a golden, great tasting beer. It has a bit of hop flavor with a smooth, clean finish. The following is included in this kit:
- 6 gallon reusable fermenter
- 30 plastic PET 740ml bottles with caps
- Coopers Lager refill
- Beer Hydrometer and thermometer
- Instructional DVD
- Bottling wand and mixing spoon
This one does cost a bit more than the Mr. Beer kits, but you get more bottles, can brew more beer and some nice tools to help you get the perfect beer. The hydrometer will tell you how well your beer is fermenting and the bottling wand will help you fill your bottles easier. I really liked this kit. It was easy to set up and saved a lot of time by making a large batch at once.
#1 – BrewDemon Signature Beer Kit
The BrewDemon beer brewing kit was one that I hadn’t heard of before and was eager to try out as it claimed that it could brew a batch in only 14 days. I was also interested because it brewed the beer in a conical fermenter instead of a bucket or pail like other kits. This kit includes:
- World’s first pro-style small batch conical fermenter
- A bag of premium malts
- An adjustable spigo
- Stick-on temperature gauge, venting plug
- 6 x 1 litre bottles, caps, and labels
- Mixing spoon, bottle filler and hose
This BrewDemon conical fermenting system is outstanding and is the first at-home brew kit that offers this technology for at-home use. This system allows you to make beer exactly like your favorite brewery. The results can be tasted in 14 days and have to be tasted to be believed.
The conical system is designed to collect the waste by-product at the bottom of the cone and is held below the spigot. After you brew with this system you will not go back to the bucket or pail. The beer simply just tastes better. There’s a reason the pros do it this way too. With this small device you can produce some outstanding brews that rival the ones you find in the store.
I should also mention that it is just as easy to use as the other beer kits out there. You can brew 2 1/2 gallons of beer in one batch and it really does only take 14 days. We’ve ended up sticking with this method for many other types of beers and have found it making consistently good beer. The only downside that I would say this kit has is that it only makes 2 1/2 gallons. However, since it doesn’t take too long to brew a new batch that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Final Thoughts – Which is the Best Homebrew Beer Kit?
If you want to brew the best tasting beer you have to go with the BrewDemon Signature home brewing kit. You can’t beat the beer that is made in a conical fermenting system. It may be a bit more expensive than the Mr. Beer kit, but it is a one time purchase and is a small price to pay to get outstanding beer all year round.
